Srinagar, Jul 10 (KNO): Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday said the National Conference is still awaiting official permission to hold its proposed July 20 statehood protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi.
Talking to reporters after unveiling the Kashmir Marathon 2026 Merchandise, here, CM Omar as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said the party had applied for permission four to five days ago and was hopeful of receiving approval before the scheduled protest.
“On July 20, the programme will take place if we get permission. We are trying to secure the approval,” he said.
The Chief Minister alleged that some groups have deliberately aligned their programmes with the NC’s proposed protest in an attempt to disrupt it. “Some people are trying to sabotage our programme by changing their dates to coincide with ours,” he said.
Notably, the National Conference has announced the protest on the opening day of Parliament’s Monsoon Session to press for the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood and has invited political and religious leaders from across the country to participate—(KNO)
